From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,

Dear Gerald

Many thanks for all your information. I think you had better send 2 more songs to Foss1 to make up the 20.
I am sending my screed to Blom2 today.
I tried to see the Sib pfte duet & solo3 at Chesters but failed. Do you happen to know who is agent in London for Sibs publishers?

1. Hubert Foss of Oxford University Press, which was going to publish a selection of Gurney's songs.
2.  'Ivor Gurney: the musician' Music & Letters vol xix (1938) p.12 ff. Eric Blom was editor at the time.
3. i.e. arrangements of Sibelius's symphonies, published by Breitkopf & Härtel (Nos 1-3), Schlesinger (4) and Hansen (5-7).
