Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Elizabeth Maconchy

Letter No.:
Oct 9th [1937]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,

Dearest Betty

I liked your 4tet very much – it made a beautiful sound which was a relief after the dreary scraping of the Honneger1.  I am so sorry I cd not come – but it came over very well on my set.2
Love from

Uncle Ralph
