Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to the BBC
Letter No.:
VWL1286
Sunday [10 April 1938]
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
Dear Sir
I see in the newspapers a B.B.C. advertizement referring to the “Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis” attributed to me - I have written no such work.
Perhaps the advertisement refers to my “FANTASIA on a theme by Thomas Tallis.1 (N.B. Not Fantasy)
I should be glad if in future my work (if it is that you refer to) could be correctly described
Yrs faithfully
R Vaughan Williams
