Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Isidore Schwiller

Letter No.:
VWL1382
Feb 2 [1940]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Dear Schwiller

We hope after all to be able to have some sort of Festival after all - the dates provisionally are March 9th or March 16th (both Saturday and both afternoon concerts). I cannot say definitely yet so you must not keep the dates - but will you pencil them? Also there is the question of funds - we hope for a grant - but if that fails to materialize we shall have to restrict expenditure - Do you think that, in that case, the orchestra would be willing to come for a “war-time” fee? - rather than not come at all?
Yrs

R. Vaughan Williams
