Letter No.:

Monday [10th April 1939]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking

My Dear

I like your new poem - “Lost content” does not count as a quotation I think. I found it difficult & had to read it 4 times, but I am stupid at poetry.
Good about May 19.1 I sent the tickets for April 21 - Balcony - the best for hearing and will you & Maud stop for the mild party (in the small hall) afterwards? Do.
According to promise I send the following date Sat 15th 9.5 Regional (Serenade to Music - which I believe you don’t like2)
RVW

Note The Concert is at 7.30

1.  UW had written a broadcast on folksongs for schools broadcasting to be put out that day.
2.  UVW said that this is not in fact true! This was probably a tease.
