Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Ruth Charrington

Letter No.:
[October 1909]

13 Cheyne Walk

Dear Miss Charrington

I was very glad to get yr letter as showing that you are well again - I was so sorry to hear of your illness.
I shall be very glad to take the orchestra again if we can get a company together - But please put off starting as late [as] possible as I am fearfully busy up to the end of November.  I return your list.  I have marked those who I know are good - I'm afraid I cannot remember anything about the rest!
Wd you like Mr Schwiller1 (who lead2 the orchestra at Dorking) to examine you?  I think I cd arrange for him to come if you approved - or Mr Carter might do so - but I think Mr Schwiller wd be better
Ys sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams

1. Isidore Schwiller, who was to lead VW's orchestras for the Leith Hill Music Festivals at Dorking for many years.
