Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Ruth Charrington
13 Cheyne Walk
S.W.
Dear Miss Charrington
I have written to Mr Schwiller - you can take it for granted that he can come unless I telephone or wire tomorrow morning.
You are working hard for the cause - I wish I cd help you more - perhaps I can later on when this rush of work is over. My numbers are only ideals to be aimed at - so I am sure we shall have a good gathering.
It is quite true that we gave a very good show at the P.E. institute1 - but that did not prevent most disturbing times at rehearsal when only about 5 people appeared sometimes!
The following need not be examined
Miss Fletcher
Miss Izard & the other good cello who played solo
Miss Fletcher & Miss Stack
- and any other professionals - if there are any who join us
Yrs very sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams
1. Passmore Edwards Institute - the concert on 10th March 1907.
