Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Donald Francis Tovey
Letter No.:
VWL183
Jan 3rd 1935
From Ralph Vaughan Williams Esq.
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
Dear Tovey
It seems a shame to add to the hosts of letters you must be receiving – I am glad you did not refuse – because it is through public recognition of this kind that many of us find our only means of expressing our thanks for all you have done for music.1
Of course no answer.
Yours very sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams
1. Tovey had been awarded a knighthood in the New Year’s honours in 1935.
