Dear Miss Glasgow

I hope there will be an opportunity at the next Council meeting of discussing the “village concert” question now that has been ventilated in the press.  –  You know how I feel about it & I shd like to have an opportunity of stating a case.
I suppose we shall soon be discussing the successor to Dr Jacques1 – I presume at the next Music Panel – I hope we shall have long notice of that – because I am very anxious not to miss it.
Yrs sincerely,

R Vaughan Williams

1. Reginald Jacques,  the first Musical Director of the Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts (CEMA). He resigned in 1945 but appears to have given early notice of his intention.
