Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Iris Lemare

Letter No.:
11th May 1950

The White Gates,

Dear Iris

Thank you so much for your interesting letter. I wish it was not going to be in the Albert Hall because I cannot hear anything there.1
I still hope to hear there will be a rehearsal with orchestra at Maida Vale.2
Love from

1. Iris Lemare's note: "This would be connected with "Folk Songs of the Four Seasons" - eventually with Boult at the Albert Hall". This work, Catalogue of Works 1949/1, was to be given its first performance by the massed choirs of the Federation of Women's Institutes with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Boult at the Albert Hall on 15th June.
2. At the BBC studios.
