My Dear Dorothy1
This is to welcome you to England - Not a very gay welcome on my part. My wife died yesterday - she was wanting so much to meet you - and now it will not be. All the same I shd like it so much if you could find time to come down here for an afternoon - I am wanting so much to see you in real life.
Love from
Uncle Ralph
1. Dorothy Wallis was a young Australian admirer who had sent the VWs many food parcels during the war.
