[8th June 1951]

The White Gates,
Dorking

Dear Victor Shephard1

I have sad news for you about myself - for my wife died about a month ago - so now I am all alone.
I was glad to get your letter but very sorry to hear of your anxiety which I hope is partly relieved by now.
I am so glad my wife saw Mrs  Shephard - she enjoyed her visit very much.
Yrs sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams
