Dear Waddington1

You may have seen in the Times before this reaches you that our dear friend R.O. Morris died early this morning. A sudden heart attack and he was only ill a few minutes.
I am not writing to many people but I want to tell you personally - I am sure you know in what affection he held you and how much he admired you.

R. Vaughan Williams

1. Sidney P. Waddington had conducted the first private performances of Hugh the Drover at the Royal College of Music, and was greatly admired by VW. Waddington and Morris had been colleagues at the Royal College of Music.
