1. Sir Gilmour Jenkins, a senior civil servant, amateur musician and close friend of the VWs. This refers to a recording of the two-piano version of the Piano Concerto (Catalogue of Works 1931/3) which the VWs had promised but failed to obtain for Michael Kennedy while in the US the previous year – see VWL2885.
