Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Michael and Eslyn Kennedy

Letter No.:
[18th November 1955 ]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

Dear Michael & Eslyn,

I have not seen a proof yet.1 We heard the record of the Elegy2 yesterday.  It was evidently a very good performance, but I did not think the recording good.  Both chorus and orchestra were much too loud while the speaker was on and occasionally nearly drowned him. Surely the control people could have seen to that?
Love to Eslyn
