Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank (OUP)

Letter No.: VWL3292

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

February 17th 1956.

Dear Frank,

I understand that Evelyn Sharp’s executrix is Joan Sharp; have you made any terms with her yet?  I feel that she ought to have £50. But if the O.U.P. feel they cannot run to that I will be prepared to make up the balance myself as a personal gift.  I think she ought also to share the performing fees, and to do that she must join the P.R.S.1
Yours sincerely,

R. Vaughan Williams

1. Performing Right Society. Evelyn Sharp had written the libretto of The Poisoned Kiss, and it was proposed that VW purchase the rights. This was completed on 7 August 1956 – see British Library MS Mus. 1714/1/22, f. 82
