Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Maud Karpeles
THE WHITE GATES,
WESTCOTT ROAD,
DORKING.
Dear Maud
I don’t like Mullinar’s arrangement, but I think your emendations make matters worse – So I set to work after breakfast and did them myself. Here they are – I don’t know whether you’ll like them. If you don’t you must go back to Mullinar. Of course I don’t know the dances or the pace of the tunes. In the Toxteth (?) Rant I have done 3 versions of the B music for you to choose from.
P.S. I have put Toxteth (?) Rant into D
