Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Michael Mullinar

Letter No.:

20th September, 1950.

The White Gates,
Dorking,
Surrey.

Dear Michael

We listened-in on Friday night and it came through splendidly, but I think you must consider the question of whether the pianoforte ought to play during those very loud tuttis, because I do not think that however loud you or anyone else played it would probably be heard.
I should very much like to hear the version for strings and organ only and I am suggesting that to Arnold Barter if he has an organ.1
Love to Mary
