Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Cedric Glover

Letter No.: VWL3750

The White Gates,
Dorking, Surrey.

14th December, 1949.

Dear Cedric

I spoke to Geoffrey Gilbert, the flautist, yesterday, and he would very much like to come and play in the “Passion”, and thinks that if he could refer to it as a solo engagement and not an small orchestral one he could get leave off.
So would you write to him as soon as possible and try and fix it up and lay stress on the fact that he is to play the Obbligati.
Yrs
