From R. Vaughan Williams,

Dear Mr Downes
This letter introduces to you my friends Mr. & Mrs. Julian Gardiner who are coming to New York.
Mr. Gardiner is an accomplished tenor singer and a talented composer.  Mrs. Gardiner is also a composer whose work I admire - She writes under the name of Mary Couper.  I am sure you will like them both.
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams
