I only listened in to Tosc & thought the tone was marvellous – though I did not like the bit where the viola solo stars – too precise & not dreary enough – He almost made me like Beethoven no.4.1

1. Apparently Toscanini’s performance of VW’s Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis, which was performed in a concert with Beethoven’s Symphony no. 4 on May 19, 1938, and broadcast as part of the London Music Festival at the Queens Hall.
