Letter from Ursula Vaughan Williams to Joan Shaw

Letter No.: VWL4210

From R. Vaughan Williams
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

January 18th 1954.

Dear Joan,

My Master says that you are to tell your Master, from him, that he has never head such silly-nonsense.  He says that he is not, and cannot be, a teacher.  That when ever Diccon1 wants help he should come along, and he will try to help him sort out the notes, and will do so with very great pleasure because he likes the tunes he writes.  And so will you tell your Master, from my Master, that he is returning the enclosure, with love to him, and with gratitude.  Meanwhile, as soon as Diccon reports that his stuff is ready, My Master will give him a warm introduction to Alan Frank.

I hope that you are both keeping well and warm?  Also, I hope that it will not count as Lese Majestie if I venture to send my fond love to Yr Master.  Mine says that I am to end with his “Best love to Joan.”  So I do.

Yours affectionately,

Ursula
Secretary.
