Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Mary and Victor Sheppard

Letter No.: VWL4350

The White Gates.
Dorking, Surrey.

11th June, 1952.

Dear Mary & Victor
I was so glad to get your letter. I am answering it though I do not know whether my letter will get to you before you start.
Let me know directly you arrive in England and we will certainly arrange a meeting.
You will have had an exciting time with your fires and all the other excitements.
I hope you will not be disappointed in England when you return to it. You must always remember that distance lends enchantment to the view.1
Love from Uncle Ralph

(R. Vaughan Williams).

Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard,
White Cottage,
Bergvliet Farm, Heathfield C.P.
