Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to the Master of the Worshipful Company of Musicians
The White Gates,
White Gates,
Dorking.
Dear Sir1
I am obliged for your letter of the 7th.
I will be at the Café Royal to meet Mr Bax1 at 12 on Monday next - I notice that you only allow half an hour for Mr. Bax2 and myself to look at the testimonials, interview the candidates and discuss our report to the Committee - This seems to me to be quite inadequate.
I have pleasure in accepting the kind invitation of Past Master C.L. Collard to lunch.3
Yours faithfully
R Vaughan Williams
1. The Master at this time was Ian Zachary Malcolm.
