Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Eva Hubback

Letter No.:
Monday [30 May 1938]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,

Dear Mrs Hubback1
Many thanks for your kind invitation - but I have given up lecturing for so long that I have quite forgotten how to do so - and I should have nothing to say to your students that they did not know already. Do get a younger man - I think musical instruction in England is in danger of remaining in the hands of the old fogies.2
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams

1. Principal of Morley College.
2. The lecture on music was given by Edwin Evans, on 15 November 1938.
