Thankyou so much for your letter - I am making some enquiries about Mr Butcher [?] - At present I don't feel inclined to help anyone go to Germany!1

1. Fiedler had instigated the awarding of the Shakespeare Prize to VW in 1937, and accompanied him to Germany to receive it in 1938. Mr Butcher has not been identified.
2. Daughter of Hermann; she had accompanied him to Germany with VW.
