Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Maud Karpeles
13 Cheyne Walk
SW3
Dear Maud
I am so sorry I cd not manage Cambridge - I got mixed up as to dates & forgot that it ended this last this week - and your letter reminding me only got on to me in Surrey when I was already pledged otherwise (not that I wd have avoided them) - But I'm glad you had Somervell1 - the more people we can rope in to work for us2 the better
- I always believe in deputising duties - it's the only way one discovers new blood.
I'm glad M. Mullinar3 was a success
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams
