Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Maud Karpeles

Letter No.:
Feb 20 [1933]

Westcott Road,

Dear Maud
Here are my criticisms on Foxy1 in the form of a letter to him which I want you to read and send it on to him.*
I will keep the typescript till I hear from you - I should like the chapters you have done to be kept as they are, but in that case the 'communal' authorship must be declared, otherwise the divergence of your demure and his extremely jaunty style will be too apparent flagrant.

On 2nd thoughts I am sending the letter to Foxy first & asking him to send it on to you

1. A.H. Fox-Strangways. He had collaborated with Karpeles on a biography of Cecil Sharp, published in 1933.
