Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to John Buckland

Letter No.:
20th January, 1953.

The White Gates,
Dorking, Surrey.

Dear Buckland
I was very glad to receive "Pieta". I liked it very much when I heard it.1
I have not had time to look at the score yet, but I should like shall hope to do so very much soon.
Thank you for what you say about the "Sinfonia".2 I cannot help feeling that the wind machine is a necessary part of it.
Yours sincerely,
R Vaughan Williams
