Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to William Rothenstein
13 Cheyne Walk

Dear Rothenstein
Thank you very much for your most interesting series of portraits.1 One advantage the artist has over the musician is that he is obliged to study human nature & get into contact with other interesting minds.
I feel proud, though slightly embarrassed, at being in such distinguished company.
Yours sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams
