Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Boris Ord

Letter No.:

13 Cheyne Walk

Dear Ord,

I have only today had my score back from Jacobson who is arranging it for small orchestra.  On looking it over I see it will want revising for concert purposes & cannot be ready & copied in time for your rehearsals.   So I fear I must ask you to postpone it.  I do hope you will do me the honour to perform it some other time.
Yours sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams

1. It is not clear that this applies to Old King Cole, Catalogue of Works 1923/2, since Jacobson was making an arrangement of the music for piano and violin, not small orchestra - but there seems no other work which fits.
