1. Holst's Egdon Heath. The work had been first performed in New York under Walter Damrosch on 12 February and by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Holst at Cheltenham on 13th February. The work had a cool reception from the press and public. See Michael Short, Gustav Holst, the man and his music, p.263 ff.
