I have been asked to write a Te Deum for the enthronement of the new Archbp in Cant: Cath:  W^d you like to see it?  It will be ready by Wednesday.  But it must be out by Nov. 1^st – so time presses – I was only asked to do it a 4^tnight ago.¹

1.  The Te Deum, Catalogue of Works 1928/1, was written for the enthronement of Cosmo Lang as Archbishop on 4 December 1928 at Canterbury Cathedral.  Foss replied on 11 October accepting the work for publication.  Oxford University Press had become VW’s regular publisher ever since OUP had accepted Shepherds of the Delectable Mountains.
