It seems to me that the “B.Dam” is both as to words & music much more erotic than religious – it is eroticism with a tinge of stained glass which the preraphaelites loved – But both the poem & the music are beautiful1

1.  Debussy’s setting of Christina Rossetti’s ‘The Blessed Damozel’, La damoiselle élue had been performed at the Three Choirs Festival on 8th September along with VW’s Dona Nobis Pacem.
2.  Fauré’s Requiem was performed at the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester on September 6 1938. The meaning of the postscript is not clear.
