Those poor boys! I think they are quite right. I can cap your story with another of a small girl who asked her pfte mistress if I had had to pass an exam first!1

1.  Note attached by Boris Ord: In reply to my letter congratulating him on his O.M., in which I told him that the choristers, while rehearsing his "O Clap your hands", said "Oh Sir, did the King give him an O.M. for writing music like this!" B.O. 10.6.35. VW had been awarded the Order of Merit.
