Dear Diana

Thank you so much for your letter & the programme – good luck to your festival.1
I fear I should not be allowed to lend you the score & parts even if I had them – it wd not be fair on my publisher. But I am writing to S. & B2 to ask them to do their best for you. So will you write & tell them what parts of the Fantasia you want.3
When are you coming to London – don’t forget to let me know.
Yrs

R. Vaughan Williams

P.S.I fear this medal is only one of many polite hints that it is time to retire4

1. i.e. at Stinchcombe
2. Stainer & Bell.
3. The reference is to the Fantasia on Christmas Carols, Catalogue of Works 1912/6, published by Stainer & Bell in 1912 (full score 1924).
4. Presumably the Cobbett medal, awarded to VW by the Worshipful Company of Musicians in 1930.
