Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Gerald Finzi

Letter No.: VWL979

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

[18th August 1936]

Dear Gerald

Thank you very much.
I went right through it twice1 yesterday – I like it. Rather different perhaps from your style as I know it – but all you all the same (including some “wrong notes”!)
When can I hear it?
My Love to Joyce & Christopher & Nigel.
Yrs

1.  A note on the original in Diana McVeigh’s hand suggests Oboe Interlude or Earth & Air & Rain. Howard Ferguson thinks the former much more likely.
