Dearest Harriet

I loved getting your telegram.
Alas! Alas!  I’ve been engaged for weeks for a dull dinner party here on the 18th – Now look here – I am coming to N.Y. for the weekend on Nov 25 or 26 – Can’t we meet then – & don’t give a tea party for me but just let me come to see you alone.  My only other day in N.Y. is that awful lecture on the 22nd & I’ve got to dine with the society before – so there it is.1
