1. Hermann Scherchen, German conductor and pioneer of new music. At this time he was giving up his post as Generalmusikdirektor at Königsberg and moving to Switzerland where he was director of Zürich Radio Orchestra. He was planning a performance of VW’s Piano Concerto with Harriet Cohen at Strasburg later in the month. See VWL1067.
