Letter No.: VWL121

10, Barton Street,
Westminster

[Before September 1905]

Dear Mr Robinson

Is there any chance that you would be able to come to this?  If so do send me a postcard and I will send you tickets. It would be such a pleasure to see you there and have your opinion of my compositions.
Yours very truly

R. Vaughan Williams

  • General Notes:

The Vaughan Williamses moved to Barton Street in April 1899 and on to Cheyne Walk in September 1905. The recipient is probably H.G. Robinson, who had been organist at Charterhouse during VW’s time there and had allowed him to practise on the school organ.  There seems little chance of identifying the concert and therefore dating the letter more precisely.
