April 3 [1952]

Dear Mr Kennedy

It was a great pleasure to meet you & your sweet wife in Manchester1 & I hope to do so whenever I visit there.  Curiously enough when I came home & was looking over some old papers I came upon the letter you wrote me some years ago.2
I was delighted & amused at your account of your wedding hymn.3  I hear you wrote a criticism of my “S.S”4 in a Manchester paper – May I see it?
Yrs sincerely

R Vaughan Williams

2.  See VWL2091.
3.  The Kennedys had chosen ‘For all the Saints’ sung to VW’s tune Sine Nomine, as a change from the more usual ‘Come down O Love Divine’ sung to VW’s Down Ampney.
4.  i.e. A Sea Symphony (Catalogue of Works 1909/3).
