The White Gates,
Dorking.

Dear Bessie

How dear of you to write such an affectionate letter. I am still here – Ursula will not have me in London till all is ready! So here I sit & do my job as if nothing had happened – the removers come and take me and the rest of the moveables on Tuesday!
We have not had an invitation to Birkbeck yet – I hope we shall get one.1
Yrs affectionately

Ralph

1. Perhaps a party when Trevelyan’s library was handed over to London University.
