Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Arnold Barter

Letter No.: VWL2768

The White Gates,
Dorking,

10th June, 1948.

Dear Barter

I will write strongly to Curwen’s about getting a new set of parts of “Sancta Civitas”.  I think it is disgraceful that they have not already got a double set.
As regards the score, if you could put up with my original manuscript I will gladly lend you that if Curwen’s have no objection.1
I am going to be at Worcester and I hope we shall meet then.
With kind regards,
Yrs
RVW

(R. Vaughan Williams).

Arnold Barter, Esq.,
9, Hurle Crescent,
Clifton, Bristol, 8.

1.  Barter made a note of his reply on the verso: ‘Thank you …. for your promised help. I hope it will clear away the diff[iculties] which threaten a perf[ormance] during next Season’. See VWL2770 for a further letter on the subject.
