Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Frederick Page

Letter No.: VWL3053

The White Gates,
Dorking, SURREY.

28th December, 1949.

Dear Page

Thank you so much for your letter.  It was a pleasant recollection of the past to get it.  I wish I could come out to New Zealand but I think I am too old for that kind of long voyage now.  I did mention it, I believe, to you at the beginning of the War when it was a question whether all people who were too old to be any use ought to leave England.
It would be a great pleasure to welcome Mrs. Page and yourself when you come to England, and it will be an additional enjoyment if you will play me through Lilburn’s Pianoforte Sonata.
I was much interested in your programmes
Yrs
