Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank (OUP)

Letter No.: VWL3225

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

November 17th 1955.

Dear Frank,

I have heard from JB. He is to record directly after the first performance, and will let you know as soon as he has the date fixed, so that then you can let Decca know and make their plans. It all seems to be working out as well as can be expected.1

1. John Barbirolli had asked for permission to make the first recording of Symphony no. 8 (Catalogue of Works 1955/3) while Decca also wished to make an early recording with Boult. See also VWL3215.
