Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank (OUP)

Letter No.: VWL3557

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

November 26th 1957.

Dear Alan,

I have only vague recollections of this man, but I think I liked him, but I know nothing about him as a conductor.1 He has written me a very nice letter as you see. If his credentials are good would you like to offer him first performance of Christmas Night, or Bridal Day, or both? Please return this letter to me, as I cannot answer it till I have your opinion.
Yrs

1.  According to a note on the letter  this was Robert Thompson, of Seattle. VW had presumably met him while in the USA in 1954.
2.  VW means The First Nowell (Catalogue of Works 1958/3) and Epithalamion (Catalogue of Works 1957/1).
