13 Cheyne Walk, S.W.3.

April 18 [1926]

Dear Atkins
You did not tell me that you wanted me to conduct my Symphony or even that you were going to do it.1 You only asked me how long it played. I have to be in London first thing on Sep 10th but I suppose I could get back from Worcester on the evening of the 9th?
September 2nd would suit me best for the London rehearsal if not inconvenient to you.
Thank you very much for sending me your programme. I am glad you liked the two part songs. I have never heard them.2
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams

1. Atkins was planning the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester, to include a performance of VW’s Pastoral Symphony. See also VWL4172, VWL4173.
2. It is not clear to which partsongs VW refers.
