Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Evangeline Farrer

Letter No.: VWL4387

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Feb 9 [1940]

Dear Evangeline
Yet another letter.
If we may not use the reserve I suggest starting a special guarantee fund – only, of course, to be used if there is an actual loss on the concerts (which I believe there will not be) or pro rata to the actual loss incurred, and a condition to be that an adequate orchestra be engaged. I should like to guarantee £25.1
I feel we owe it to the professional helpers who have done so much for us in the future not to drop them now.
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams
