The White Gates, Dorking

August 17th 1953

Dear Mr Morgan,1
Thank you very much for your kind letter. I admired your solo at the end of the slow movement very much; indeed the whole performance was splendid, and there was a nice friendly spirit throughout the whole orchestra.
I have never written a viola concerto but I venture to send you a copy of a Suite for viola and orchestra which I once wrote for Lionel Tertis.
Yours sincerely,
R Vaughan Williams
