1. The dance tunes referred to were the Twelve traditional country dances (Catalogue of Works 1931/1) which VW was arranging for piano for publication by Novello. ‘Job Tyranny’ refers to preparations for the premiere of the staged version of Job Catalogue of Works 1930/5) on 5 July 1931.
